BIRMINGHAM MILLENNIUM BOOKS

 J. K. ROWLING:  HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE

HARPER LEE:  TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD

THE BIBLE

All this year we have been asking Birmingham readers to tell us which are their favourite books, and what we could do to improve libraries. We have sent voting papers to leisure centres, neighbourhood offices, the MAC, the Drum, local surgeries, reading and creative writing groups, the Birmingham Post and Mail Millennibrum Supplements and The Voice, and, of course, libraries.  People voted for  novels, biography, classics, philosophy, history. Most people voted for a novel as their favourite book, and all children voted for a story as their favourite

There will be readings from the books voted as favourites in the Café in the Central Library Wednesday 20 December, 3-4pm

We also received a wide range of comments on libraries and  many helpful suggestions.  Library Services at Home was particularly singled out for praise.
