Youth Theatre Leader Pershore - posted 23 June

Youth Theatre Leader (Pershore, Worcestershire)
Starting January 2005 Number 8 requires the skills of an experienced Youth Theatre Leader.

As part of its new programming policy Number 8 Community Arts Centre aims to establish a thriving Youth Theatre. Number 8 is looking for a Youth Theatre Leader to take on this exciting challenge. We need someone who is passionate about youth arts and has the artistic vision to develop a Youth Theatre identity at the venue.

Number 8 is a venue inspired by, fundraised by and run by the local community of Pershore in Worcestershire. Other than the Programming & Marketing Manager everyone who works at Number 8 is a volunteer. We currently have a 100 strong team working across the organization.

Over the past three years a professional development officer has been employed to build audiences and testing out arts activity ideas. In 2002 Number 8 ran a pilot youth theatre programme that was incredibly successful. There were two groups 7-11 year olds and 12+ year olds.
Enrolments were high and there was even a waiting list for the 7-12 age group.

During the three year development period the organization was operating in temporary facilities. In July 2003 Number 8 closed its doors to embark on a major programme of capital re-development. From December 2004 the
premise will boast a 250 seater auditorium featuring film and live events, the Courtyard Room with sprung floor for community arts and leisure activity, a studio space for training & art classes and a cafe/bar gallery.

Sessions will take place on Wednesdays between 4.30pm - 8pm during term time at Number 8 Community Arts Centre, Pershore, Worcestershire. There will be two 11/2 hours sessions each evening for 7-12 year olds & 13+. We
require the Youth Theatre Leader to be CRB checked and operate a rigourous Child Potection Policy.
